Description
Discovery of the Notre Dame de La Verne trail along the Verne dam at La Mole.
To access the dam, at the exit of the Village (direction Toulon) turn right after the 2nd traffic light. Continue 50 m and leave your vehicle near the water plant. You will have 2.5 km of dirt track left to walk. Then follow the markings on the path to the Chartreuse de La Verne, an impressive monastery founded in 1170, classified as a historical monument and superbly restored by lovers of the site.
The monumental door of the Monastery is made of serpentine stone, volcanic marble from the Massif des Maures. In the XVII c. the entire Monastery has been decorated with this stone extracted from a quarry in La Mole.
